The Path to Power
LaTanya E. Christopher is an author, advocate, speaker, and behavioral health professional whose life is a powerful testament to resilience, perseverance, and hope.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and later raised on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, LaTanya’s journey was anything but easy. As a child, she experienced homelessness, trauma, family instability, and adversity that could have easily shaped the rest of her life. After leaving school in the seventh grade, she faced obstacles that many believed would be impossible to overcome.
But LaTanya refused to give up.
Through determination, faith, and perseverance, she earned her high school diploma and went on to achieve three college degrees, including an Associate Degree from Wor-Wic Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Salisbury University, and a Master of Science in Human Services from Wilmington University. Along the way, she earned Dean’s List honors, was inducted into the Chi Eta Chapter of the Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society, and dedicated her life’s work to helping others overcome challenges of their own.
For more than a decade, LaTanya has worked in behavioral health and human services, supporting individuals and families affected by trauma, mental health challenges, addiction, and adversity. Her professional experience, combined with her personal journey, has given her a unique and compassionate perspective on healing, resilience, and personal transformation.
Today, LaTanya is the author of The Powerless Child: Wounds That Never Heal, a powerful memoir that chronicles her journey from childhood homelessness and trauma to education, healing, and purpose. Through her writing, she hopes to inspire others to believe that their circumstances do not determine their future and that healing is possible, even after life’s deepest wounds.
LaTanya is also the proud mother of three children and grandmother of three grandchildren. Beyond her work as an author, she plans to use the success of her memoir as a foundation for establishing a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families facing hardship and adversity.
Her message is simple:
Your beginning does not determine your ending.
Train by train. Day by day. Choice by choice. Still Climbing.
